Work in progress PSM game.

When OUT OF MIND was finally released I planned on taking a break but as can be the way with these things the line between unreleased and released is blurred over the course of two weeks. In that time I took to work on a new PSM game and here are the first screens from that adventure.

It’s a turn based tactics RPG! Can you tell that from the screens?

This is a very early build. Nothing here in any way close to being final but I feel like it has the soul of the game which will eventually be released and so feel OK about sharing this early glimpse.

Take note: anything orange is temporary and will probably change. Everything else will probably change too.

What do you think? Excited for a tactics RPG on PSM?

I am a HUGE fan of tactics RPGs. If it plays like somebody actually thought to mix tactics and RPG into a smooth pair (rather than bolting one onto the other and pretending it makes a game), then I’m in! There aren’t so many tactics RPGs out there, I think because it’s so hard to make them simultaneously be “tactics,” “RPG,” and “worth playing.”

While I usually like some plot to my RPGs, in a budget PSM title I’ll go with pure gameplay.

I just got Out of Mind, and I’m rather enjoying it. Haven’t gotten that far in it (just about to hit level 5), but you do a great job so far of generating legitimate challenge without frustration.

Am I right to say you like Fire Emblem games? Gameplay looks similar which I don’t mind, but do try to put your own spin/personality to it as well 🙂 Looking forward to it whenever it’s complete.

Yes, this is a little bit fire emblem-y. I’ve worked on this game a bit since this post and it has a much more unique vibe now. It’s still got a long way to go.
