In an attempt to jump on the bird-flapping bandwagon while remaining totally and hopelessly out of touch TACS Games has released it’s latest game: ‘FLAPPO BIRD’.
I spent some time today making a new and original game called Flappo Bird for the Atari 2600. You can download it right now from here and pay what you want.
I’ve wanted to make something for the 2600 for a while now and when I had this totally original idea yesterday I couldn’t wait to get into it. Even without ever working on a 2600 game before I was already very familiar with the hardware limitations of the device from a few books I’ve read on the topic. Going in with such a simple idea made building the game very easy. It only took a couple of hours to build once I’d got the tools set up.
I think I will return to the 2600 again one day as this was a fun project to work on, perhaps I can make a little library of weird games. Got any suggestions?
So check the game out and give it a play, it’s a real Atari 2600 4k ROM, so you’ll need an emulator to play it on but I’m sure you’re able to sort that out for yourself.

Did you do this with Batari Basic?
Cool deal, did you use Batari Basic for this?
Yes I did 🙂

I’d like to include this title in my next book in the series called “The Atari 2600 Homebrew Companion”, if that is OK with you? Please let me know where I could send proof pages of what I have written so far on Flappo Bird.
Thanks,

Looks like your effort is getting mixed reviews.
